An interview with Sophie Kwok, the founder of Love Intently, a service that empowers couples to build stronger and deeper relationships by taking the guesswork out of showing you care. How is it that our relationships, which are arguably the most important areas of our lives, can be so unsupported in today’s society? Hear Sophie’s perspective in this episode along with a slew of other simple, yet significant love tips that you can implement right away.
[7:04] Sophie shares how the idea for Love Intently came about
[13:25] Relationships are one of the most important, yet under supported areas of our lives: “There’s such a heavy emphasis on [technology] & achievement in this country, and we’re just not as communal as we used to be. We’re meant to be social beings and there’s just a lack of focus there.”
[18:25] How the Love Intently app works: “We get to know you and your partner individually and this is what we call your ‘love personality’. But it’s more holistic than any framework that’s out there as it takes into account where you live, whether you have children, how long you’ve been together, where you are in your relationship, what your interests are, etc. [Once we have that information] we are able to give you and your partner catered suggestions which we call ‘love tips’ delivered through text messages.”
[24:38] Sophie shares what she believes makes love last: “I think a big part of love isn’t just about learning to find it, but learning to receive it and receive it well.”
[30:25] We discuss the body positive movement and how it plays such a positive role in our relationships: “A huge part of of relationships breaking down has been this barrier to intimacy that people can build up and it comes from not feeling good enough or worthy and those are things that overtime can become lethal in relationships because you’re dishing out rejection because you’re insecure about receiving it.”
Be a good listener; actively listening and being wildly curious about your partner is underrated — do the plus one!
